Week 1

Hi my name is Gemma. I am getting married 07.04.16 with a desperate need to lose weight for the big day, not just to look nice in my dress but for myself too. I have a goal to lose 3 stone between now and then. I have done slimming world after struggling with weight my whole life and did really well but as soon as we got engaged and all the meals out and celebratory parties I began to put weight back on. Luckily I managed to keep 3 stone off but knew I had to get back to where I was pre engagement.

I tried to go back to slimming world but it wasn’t happening as my heart and head wasn’t in the right place. I almost gave up all hope when I saw the Wedding Dress Diet Plan sent through on an email. I thought to myself ‘£9.99, what harm can it do to try it?’.

The beginning of week 1 and I was a little apprehensive of eating low calories but I planned the meals and made a menu before going shopping ready for day 1. Day 1 came and went and surprisingly it was ok and I wasn’t too hungry (if I was then I grabbed a glass of water and it soon went away) it made me realise how many calories are in carbohydrates and that fruit and vegetables really don’t have a lot of calories in at all. Even though it is autumn I have discovered a new love for salads and to help with my portion control I use a shallow bowl for my meals instead of a normal large plate. Getting on the scales every morning helps as you can see the number on the scales going down each day you step on them (invest in proper scales!). I found if you stay the same one day then don’t beat yourself up as there may be a number of factors affecting this such as drinking water close to bed time.

The end of week 1 has come to an end and upon getting on the scales I have lost a total of 11 1/2 lbs! I feel proud of what I have achieved, even family members’ are saying they can see a difference, and it has given me the motivation to keep going.

 

Week 2

Hi again. So I have been doing the diet plan for 2 weeks now and I have lost another 4 lbs this week taking my total to 1st 1 1/2 lbs. I think this week has been a little harder as I have been wanting to change up the meals a little and not going by the example plan. It has been going well and if I am unsure I refer to the plan booklet. I knew I wouldn’t have an amazing loss like last week but I think 4 lbs is a good effort. My eye keeps catching chocolate and other foods but I have to keep reminding myself why I am doing this. Also the treat meal really helped as I was able to enjoy our 4 years of being together with my amazing fiance by going our to dinner and without the feeling of guilt and had a really nice time. I might repeat the 1st week meal plans that are given in the example to experiment with what will happen as I don’t want to be over confident with new meals if they won’t help.

 

Week 3

It is now the end of week 3 and I haven’t had such a good week. There are too many times I have been out for birthday celebrations, mini break to see the family in london and me and my fiance also did wine and canapé tasting (which involved far too much wine) I don’t normally drink so it really affected me. 

However on the days I didn’t go out I made sure I stuck to the plan. I still managed to loose 1 lb (not my best effort but better than a gain.)

This takes my total 1st 2 1/2 lbs. 

My action plan for week 4 is to boost things off again by repeating week 1 and see what happens. There are no plans to go out this week but if i do then I will work it into being my treat meal at the end of the week. 

 

Week 4 & 5

Now I am at the end of week 5 and I find that I don’t have to think so much about what I am eating. I just know what I can and can’t eat on certain days. Like most diets the weight loss has slowed down and it still depends from day to day what you loose or in some cases slightly put on. I find that after a higher carbs day I may put 1/2 – 1lb back on but then after a lower car day it is back off again. I have also started to go for a 20-30 minute walk every night (when I can) just to start becoming a little more active. I need to keep an eye on making sure that I am still drinking enough fluids throughout the day. I don’t enjoy it but I have started to drink at least 2 cups of green tea. Doing this diet has made me realise how many times I socialise and how it is always based around food. I seem to keep being asked to go out for dinner. But all I want to do is go out for a sober boogie!! Week 6 I am not expecting much as it is  my ‘bloating’ week but I will keep up the walking and the eating and see how I go from there.
